Above: The transcript of the marriage certificate of Hubert Carl Hughan Cahill. I was very interested to see what would be written in the "Parents" section for Carl when I ordered this transcription. As you can see, he stated that he did not know the identity of his parents. I wonder when he was informed that he was not a Hughan by birth, but by informal adoption? He recorded his name as Hughan when he enlisted for WW1, but in 1925 when he married it was as a Cahill.
